Explorer ship Roald Amundsen launches in Norway

Hurtigruten's new Explorer ship Roald Amundsen has been launched at Kleven shipyard in Ulsteinvik, Norway.

The first of two hybrid ships Hurtigruten will add to its fleet, Roald Amundsen is a 140-metre cruise ship that will accommodate 530 passengers and travel at a speed of 15 knots.

Named after the Norwegian Antarctic explorer, the 20,889GT vessel will feature a two-level indoor/outdoor observation deck, Amundsen Science Centre and three Nordic restaurants.
