Global cruise giant the Carnival Corporation has announced that the company has decided to consolidate its various cruise brands over the next five years.
Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn Cruise Line, P&O Cruises, Cunard Line, Ocean Village, AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises are all part of the Carnival Corporation.
Carnival has a combined fleet of 88 ships with a further 18 scheduled for delivery by 2012.
"The time is right for Carnival to create one global cruise brand," Carnival's CEO Micky Arison said. "Even ten years ago the global cruise market was not ready for the introduction of our 'fun ships', preferring various niche brands."
Mr Arison said that by 2015, all Carnival brands will lose their individual identity and become "Fun Ships". External liveries will all be changed to match existing Carnival 'Fun Ship' fleet. The vessel's interiors will all be "Carnivalised", as will all the names of vessels. Many of the ship names will be renamed, but with the prefix "Carnival" added to it.
