Canada: BC Ferries has announced vessel redeployment for the Tsawwassen to Southern Gulf Islands route as well as the Comox to Powell River run during the fall season.
The 'Queen of Nanaimo', which services BC Ferries' Tsawwassen to Southern Gulf Islands route, will undergo its refit from October 12 through to mid-December. During this time, the 'Queen of Burnaby' will provide service to the Southern Gulf Islands.
The 'Queen of Burnaby', which is the regular vessel on the Comox to Powell River route, will be replaced by the 'Queen of Chilliwack' during this time.
A modified schedule will be in place on the Comox to Powell River route from October 12 through mid-December to accommodate the slower speed of the 'Queen of Chilliwack'.
The 'Queen of Chilliwack' has a smaller vehicle and passenger capacity than the 'Queen of Burnaby, so overloads may occur.
It has been necessary to redeploy the Queen of Burnaby during the Queen of Nanaimo's refit period as the Queen of Chilliwack is unable to integrate into the complex schedule of the Southern Gulf Islands, according to the company.
