Greek shipping firm Attica Holdings, operator of the Superfast and Blue Star Ferries lines, has announced the sale and delivery of the 203 metre ro-pax vessel 'Superfast VI' to Malaysian conglomerate Genting Group.

Formerly operating on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Ancona route, another vessel within Attica's fleet will replace the 'Superfast VI' on the service.

Set to be renamed the 'Bimini Superfast' and registered in Panama, the 30,000GRT vessel's new home is rumoured to be a United States-Caribbean service, with the vessel operating a route between Miami and Bimini in the Bahamas to support Genting's new casino project.

In late March, Genting's United States subsidiary announced the acquisition of Bimini SuperFast Limited. Incorporated in the Isle of Man, stated reasons behind the sale were "the purpose of the provision of cruise and cruise-related services to Bimini Islands, Bahamas".

Total proceeds of the sale of the 'Superfast VI' were over 50 million Euros.
