Aluminium Marine has launched its second vessel for Inter Island Ferries in Australia's state of Victoria.
The 'James Grant' is an 18-metre commuter and tourist ferry operating in Western Port near Melbourne, offering services to local destinations French Island, Phillip Island and Seal Rocks.
The catamaran ferry was designed by Australian company Incat Crowther, as were the earlier three vessels built for this service.
Incorporating the latest hull design the vessel is very easily driven and offers great economy. The hull design was well tested in the delivery from Brisbane to Melbourne and the delivery crew were all impressed with its performance and sea keeping ability.
As with all of Aluminium Marine's vessels, the entire package is durable, "designed to last", offering the operator a sound, strong and reliable vessel.
The 'James Grant's' passenger capacity is 110 and the vessel has a mixture of internal and external seating from Beurteaux.
'James Grant' is an economical option for medium size requirements and the hull can be utilised for various superstructure options.
Twin Yanmar 6HYM ETE diesel engines, rated at 399kW each, push the vessel along at an easy 24.5-27 knots fully-loaded. This vessel is the first passenger ferry to feature Incat Crowther's latest hull form.
Vessel boarding will occur via side gates aft. Across the aft bulwark is a large luggage rack. The aft deck also features two WC compartments and stairs to the upper deck, while the main passenger cabin features 64 seats.
