Newly completed and awarded projects are mainly within the offshore wind segment, particularly acquisition and installation activities, though general subsea installation works are also in the pipeline. The projects are mainly in support of clients in Europe, West Africa, and the US East Coast.

Heerema awarded transport and installation contract at EnBW's North Sea wind farm

Heerema Marine Contractors has been awarded an offshore wind foundation installation contract for EnBW's He Dreiht offshore wind farm.

The work includes the transport and installation of 64 monopiles and transition pieces. During operations, Heerema will use a double-walled noise mitigation system amongst other systems to reduce noise pollution.

The He Dreiht wind farm is located in the German North Sea, 90 kilometres northwest of Borkum and about 110 kilometres west of Heligoland. With a capacity of 900 MW, He Dreiht is one of the largest planned offshore wind power projects in Europe and is scheduled to go into operation in 2025.

Fred Olsen Windcarrier tapped for turbine installation offshore France

Fred Olsen Windcarrier (FOWIC) has been awarded a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the transport and installation of 62 wind turbines on the Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind farm in French waters.

FOWIC will mobilise one of its special purpose-built jackup installation vessels during the spring of 2023. This will be the company's first large transportation and installation project in France.

Van Oord, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock selected for subsea rock installation works

The consortium between Van Oord and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD) has been selected by Empire Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Equinor and BP, as main contractors for subsea rock installation works related to the development of the Empire Wind I and II offshore wind developments on the US East Coast.

Van Oord's scope involves preparing the seabed with the placement of filter rock prior to the installation of monopile foundations. This will be executed by a flexible fallpipe vessel.

GLDD will meanwhile install armour rocks as a stabilisation and protection layer after the monopiles have been installed.

Subsea 7 awarded contract offshore West Africa

Subsea 7 has been awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of flowlines and umbilicals for an undisclosed client offshore West Africa.

Project management and engineering have already commenced. Offshore operations are scheduled to take place from the first half of 2024.

PGS to undertake surveys in Mediterranean, Norwegian Sea

PGS has secured industry pre-funding for a large multi-client survey on the Northwest shelf of the Norwegian Sea. Approximately 6,000 square kilometres will be acquired during the project, which is scheculed to begin in the first half of May 2022.

PGS has also been awarded a wide azimuth 3D acquisition contract in the Eastern Mediterranean offshore Cyprus. Mobilisation is scheduled to start in mid-June while acquisition will be completed by mid-August.

G-tec completes UXO detection and identification campaign at France's Calvados offshore wind farm

French geophysical services provider G-tec has successfully completed the unexploded ordnance (UXO) detection and clearance campaign for the Calvados offshore wind farm off the coast of Normandy.

In total more than 2,200 kilometres was surveyed. First, a geophysical survey was conducted, and this included seabed mapping using a multibeam echosounder and side scan sonar, as well as UXO detection.

The campaign resulted in the detection and identification of three actual UXOs. The findings were then reported to the French authorities for safe disposal of the ordnance.
