Prosafe sells laid-up accommodation platform for scrapping

Published on:

Norwegian accommodation specialist Prosafe, through a wholly owned subsidiary, has entered into an agreement to sell its 1984-built, anchor moored semi-submersible tender support and accommodation vessel Safe Scandinavia for scrapping.

Safe Scandinavia is presently located in Norway and has been in cold lay-up for over six years.

A condition of the recycling is full compliance with all relevant conventions and regulations. Prosafe expects to deliver the vessel to the buyer within the second quarter of 2025.

Safe Scandinavia is an anchor-moored, semi-submersible tender support and accommodation vessel with berths for 309 people. It was designed to be capable of operating worldwide in harsh conditions.

The vessel was upgraded in 2003 and underwent a 20-year life extension refurbishment in 2014. It then completed undergoing an extensive and complex conversion into a tender support vessel in 2016.

Equipped with high and low pressure mud pumping, mixing and storage capabilities, the vessel was deployed to support wireline, coil tubing and cement services and offer accommodation, offices, workshops and utility services.

Prior to being placed in lay-up, Safe Scandinavia was capable of supporting rig-less well intervention and undertaking drilling or workover activities with the aid of a modular rig or platform derrick.
