Cadeler jackup secures installation work at US wind farm
Cadeler has been awarded a firm contract for a project at an undisclosed offshore wind farm located in the United States.
This will be the first time Cadeler’s newbuild vessel Wind Pace will be deployed following its anticipated delivery. The work is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025 and Wind Pace will be committed under this contract until Q1 2026.
Wind Pace is in the final stages of construction and is scheduled for delivery within the first half of 2025. It is a sister vessel of Wind Peak, which was delivered last year following completion at China's COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry.
Wind Peak and Wind Pace are engineered to operate at some of the most challenging offshore installation sites worldwide. Enhanced loading and installation capacity and advanced onboard technologies will enable the vessels to install some of the largest wind turbines currently being deployed.
With the ability to transport and install seven complete 15MW turbine sets or five sets of 20MW+ turbines per load, the transit capacity reduces the energy intensity of installation and installation time. Cadeler said this ultimately lowers the total cost and carbon footprint of installation per turbine.
