Thai shipyard Marsun lays keel of fast trimaran crewboat
The keel laying ceremony of a trimaran fast crewboat took place at shipyard Marsun in Thailand yesterday.
The 35-metre vessel was commissioned by Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production and Uniwise Offshore.
"The trimaran design...offers a combination of multiple advanced features that produce a game-changer for offshore operations," said Marsun.
"Notably, it is designed to operate effectively in challenging wave conditions up to 2.5 metres both during transfer and transit, significantly increasing operational availability, while still maintaining ample cargo and fuel capacity for a variety of offshore tasks."
The three hulls, combined with motion damping foils, are projected to result in high-speed transit operations at 34 knots, while reducing motion sickness, minimising fatigue and providing a much smoother ride.
The hull was specially designed to be semi-small water plane (semi-SWATH) to increase safety during transfer passenger to/from offshore platform.
"The emphasis is also on interior design to delivery crew comfort and passenger experience by offering business-class seating experience and 270-degree view," added Marsun.
The newbuild will be propelled by waterjets.
