Singapore-based operator Aesen (formerly Miclyn Express Offshore) has taken delivery of a new crewboat.

Aesen 116H is a hybrid crewboat developed to support the evolving operational requirements of offshore personnel transportation and infield logistics operations.

"This vessel... [combines] hybrid propulsion technology, intelligent energy management and enhanced operational resilience to support safer, more efficient and lower-emission offshore operations," Aesen said in a press release.

"Designed specifically for high-frequency infield operations, the vessel addresses the unique operating profile of offshore personnel transfer missions, where short transits, variable power demands and standby periods present opportunities for greater energy optimisation and operational efficiency."

Energy storage systems are used in conjunction with the hybrid propulsion to enable a 30 to 40 per cent reduction in fuel consumption compared to conventionally powered crewboats operating under similar duty cycles.

A smart operating system enhanced situational awareness on the bridge by improving visibility of critical operating areas around the vessel. Aesen said the system complements conventional navigation and monitoring technologies, supporting informed decision-making under complex offshore operating conditions.
