NYK invests in crewboat operator Northern Offshore Group

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) has confirmed its investment in Swedish crew transfer specialist the Northern Offshore Group (NOG).

NYK and NOG have had an operational and technical collaboration since 2019, and NOG became a company under the NYK Group when a majority of its shares were acquired by NYK.

Through this investment, NOG will be able to leverage NYK’s global network, enabling further technical development and growth. In turn, NYK will gain operational experience in preparation for the anticipated future expansion of the offshore wind sector in waters closer to Japan.

David Kristensson will continue to lead NOG as its Chief Executive Officer. Carl-Johan Hagman, NYK Executive Officer and NYK Group Europe region head, is now the Chairman of NOG's board of directors.

NOG's global fleet consists of 60 crewboats, all of which are operated by NOG company Northern Offshore Services.

NOG will continue to operate as an independent entity, but will have the ability to draw on the global resources of the wider NYK Group, according to Hagman.
