New windfarm crewboat delivered to South Korean shipyard Yeosu Ocean

Published on:

South Korean shipyard Yeosu Ocean has taken delivery of a new catamaran crewboat ordered from Strategic Marine of Singapore.

Designed by BMT, the 27-metre Ventus Camellia features a large asymmetric superstructure ensuring ample interior space for a range of operational requirements. Once in service, it will transport technicians to and from offshore wind farms.

Key features of the new crewboat include a hybrid-ready design, compatibility with South Korean-built components, and high-comfort accommodation for up to 24 passengers and three crewmembers.

The vessel is also equipped with advanced technologies to meet the demanding conditions of offshore wind farms. It meets IMO Tier III emission requirements and is configured for future adaptation to accommodate alternative propulsion systems.

The crewboat utilises a design that promotes optimal operational efficiency across a wide range of loading conditions.

The hull form meanwhile maximises the waterline length as well as reduces emissions and fuel consumption even at high transit speeds approaching 26 knots.
