China's Jianglong Shipbuilding has launched a new windfarm crew transfer vessel (CTV) ordered by an unnamed customer, the company said in a statement.

The 22.5- by 7.8-metre catamaran, which has been named Bao Xing 8, has a hull made from marine grade aluminium alloy and a speed of 16 knots.

The vessel may also be used for salvage support and standby emergency and rescue duties.

Bao Xing 8 is the first in a series of CTVs that Jianglong plans to put into quantity production, with all units scheduled to be delivered within the year.
