Damen has laid the keel of the first unit in a new series of crew transfer vessels (CTVs) at the company's shipyard in Antalya, Turkey.

The CTV is designed to transport up to 250 personnel over distances of 200 nautical miles one-way at speeds of up to 40 knots.

With a length of 70 metres, the CTV series will be the largest aluminium monohull vessels to be built by Damen.

Launch of the first unit is scheduled for August 2020 while delivery to a prospective client may be effected by the end of that year, Damen said in a press release.
