Australia: Strategic Marine will hand over four new workboats to the Saipem Leighton Consortium next week for use on the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project. The contract is valued at just under AU$1 million (US$1.05 million).
The vessels were built at the company's Henderson Shipyards and are expected to be used to transport workers to and from construction barges operating at Barrow Island as part of the LNG jetty and marine structure contract for the Gorgon Project.
The Gorgon Project is operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (approximately 47 percent), ExxonMobil (25 percent) and Shell (25 percent), as well as Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (one percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).
