Spanish renewables company BlueFloat Energy has unveiled plans to build four new offshore wind farms in the Philippines.

The company disclosed the plans for the wind farms following the award of four wind energy service contracts for three sites off Luzon island and a fourth off Mindoro island.

BlueFloat said the World Bank's offshore wind roadmap for the Philippines shows the country's total technical potential for offshore wind is estimated at 178 GW. The roadmap, which was unveiled in 2022, stated that around 21 GW can be potentially generated from offshore wind power in the Philippines by 2040.
