Hull of Eni Indonesia's future FPSO to be built in China
Saipem has selected China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) for the construction of the hull of a new floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) that will be operated by Eni in Indonesian waters.
Following its completion, the FPSO will be deployed in the Kutei North Hub natural gas project operated by Eni Indonesia.
The FPSO will serve as a central processing and export hub with the ability to process approximately one billion cubic feet (28 million cubic metres) of natural gas and 80,000 barrels of condensate per day, and the capacity to store up to one million barrels of crude oil.
The contract for the FPSO hull construction is the second such contract entered into by Saipem and CMHI since 2024.
The two parties had earlier entered into an agreement for the construction of the hull of an FPSO that would be deployed by France's TotalEnergies in the Kaminho deepwater project in Block 20/11 off the coast of Angola.
