Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas officially named its first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility the 'PFLNG Satu' on March 4, 2016.
The facility has the capacity to produce 1.2 million tonnes of LNG per year and is expected to be ready for delivery in the second quarter of 2016.
The 'Satu' was developed with Petronas' strategic partners Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering and Technip, at the DSME shipyard in Okpo, South Korea.
The FLNG facility allow the company to monetise gas resources from remote, marginal and stranded fields, which would otherwise be uneconomical to develop via conventional means.
The 'PFLNG Satu' will be moored at Malaysia's Kanowit gas field, 180km offshore Sarawak.
