Van Wijngaarden signs LOI with Dutch builder for new multi-purpose vessel
Offshore support services company Van Wijngaarden Marine Services has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the Netherlands-based Kooiman Marine Group for the design and construction of a new DP2-class multi-purpose vessel (MPV).
Van Wijngaarden said the vessel will be built entirely in the Netherlands and is expected to support a broad range of offshore, shallow-water, and "renewable energy" operations.
The 47-metre-long, 16-metre-wide vessel will feature a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and be compliant with IMO Tier III and ULEV (Ultra Low Emission Vessel) standards. It will be equipped with two deck cranes (17 tonnes at 21 metres outreach), a tow and anchor-handling winch (50/220 tonnes pull, 250/250 tonnes hold), and accommodation for 27 personnel across 13 single and seven double cabins.
“We are proud to be developing this multipurpose vessel in close collaboration with Van Wijngaarden,” Kooiman Marine Group was quoted.
Van Wijngaarden said it would announce the name of the upcoming vessel soon.
