UK's NR Marine takes delivery of first vessel in new crewboat class

Published on

NR Marine Services has taken delivery of NR Rival, the first in a new class of crewboats designed by Walker Marine Design and built in the UK by Diverse Marine.

NR Rival measures 25 metres LOA. Its quad IPS system gives it a top speed of over 30 knots, and coupled with a transom-mounted hull vane, offers efficient fuel consumption at cruising speeds.

Power is courtesy of four Volvo Penta D13s, each providing 515kW at 2,300 RPM, for a service speed of 26 knots and range of 1,000 nautical miles.

The crewboat's hybrid system, powered by a 112.5kWh battery bank within a dedicated air conditioning and fire protected space, gives the vessel “Zero Emission PM” class notation.

Other features of the vessel include a deck cargo capacity of 20 tonnes on a deck area of 75 square metres, and maximum displacement of 113.30 tonnes.

With a crew of three, NR Rival will ferry up to 24 personnel to offshore wind farms.
