Seacor Marine to sell two liftboats for $76m
Offshore support service provider Seacor Marine has entered into definitive agreements to sell two of its 335-foot (102-metre) class liftboats to JAD Construction. The deal has total gross proceeds of $76 million in cash and is expected to generate an estimated gain of $30.5 million for the company.
The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The company stated that the net proceeds from the sales are unencumbered.
John Gellert, the company's Chief Executive Officer, described the transaction as a continuation of a strategic shift away from high-volatility markets. He said the sales allow the company to reduce its exposure to offshore wind and decommissioning markets, which have experienced prolonged periods of softer demand due to project deferrals and cancellations.
Gellert added that the sale also removes the anticipated cost and downtime associated with lengthy repairs on one of the vessels, which were scheduled to begin in October 2025, significantly improving the company’s liquidity. He said the sale proceeds provide multiple options to redeploy capital into, “more attractive assets and explore opportunities for consolidation.”
