Olympic CSOV tapped for Aker BP five-year charter
Olympic Notos, a commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) operated by Norway's Olympic, has been chosen as the walk-to-work (W2W) vessel that will serve the unmanned production platform Munin in the Yggdrasil area in the North Sea off Norway.
Aker BP has entered into a five-year contract with Olympic for the lease of the vessel. The contract also includes options for an additional five years.
Olympic Notos will go on contract for Aker BP starting in early 2026. It will be used in the hook-up phase of the Aker BP-operated Fenris platform in the summer of 2026, before going into continuous operation in the Yggdrasil area from the fourth quarter of that same year.
"Munin is designed without a helideck, living quarters, and lifeboats, and we will only visit the platform in planned campaigns," said Kristian Bay Næss, VP Operations Yggdrasil for Aker BP. "Now we have secured a solid W2W vessel that will contribute to the efficient start-up and operation of Munin."
Personnel working on Munin will live on the CSOV and board the platform via a gangway. The gangway will be connected to the platform as long as personnel are working on the platform.
Additionally, the CSOV can also be used for normally unmanned installations like Hugin B, through a short-term bumper connection to transfer personnel to and from the platform.
