OEG wins construction support contract for Inch Cape offshore wind farm

Published on

Offshore energy service provider OEG has won a multi-million-pound contract to support the construction phase of the 1.1-gigawatt (GW) Inch Cape offshore wind farm in Scotland. The contract will run until the project becomes operational in 2027.

Under the contract, OEG will supply an integrated package of topside and marine services, including marine coordination and high voltage services, managed from the company’s new facility in Edinburgh.

OEG will operate up to ten vessels, including seven guard vessels and three crew transfer vessels, and will also provide metocean sensors and navigation buoys.

The Inch Cape project is located in the North Sea, 15 kilometres from the Angus coast, and will feature up to 72 wind turbines. Once complete, it is expected to generate enough "clean energy" to power more than half the homes in Scotland and will contribute to Scottish and UK Government "green energy targets", according to a company statement.

John Hill, Inch Cape’s Project Director, noted that the project is now entering its critical offshore construction phase.
