Noryards has announced the signing of a new shipbuilding contract with Norwegian ship-owner and operator BOA for an inspection maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel.
Noryards will provide engineering, construction and outfitting of the IMR vessel. The design is to be developed in close cooperation between Noryards and BOA Offshore. The newbuilding will utilise a number of features that contribute to optimal operational performance, low emissions and reduced fuel consumption.
In addition to fuel-efficiency, the vessel will have free deck space and a high crewing and operator capacity relative to its size. The vessel's overall length will be 108 metres with a beam of 24 metres.
This deal is the third consecutive Boa-contract for Noryards, following 'Boa Bison' launched at Noryards Fosen last year and 'Boa Jarl', currently under construction at the yard in Rissa.
Delivery is scheduled for early 2017. The hull construction will be subcontracted to one of Noryards' partners in Turkey, Tersan shipyard, and the hull is scheduled to arrive at Noryards Fosen for outfitting in mid-2016.
