Mexico-based Naviera Integral will be the launching customer of Damen's new Sea Axe Fast Crew Supply vessel, the FCS 4008.
Jointly developed by Damen and Naviera Integral, the next-generation FCS 4008 design is mainly focused on passenger transport rather than a combination of passengers and cargo.
According to Naviera Integral President, Juan Pablo Vega, the company is having an increasing focus on passenger transportation. Measuring 42 metres in length, the new vessel will have a capacity for 100 people.
Naviera Integral's recent history operating the Sea Axe 5009 in the Gulf of Mexico for companies such as Pemex has been taken on board with the design of the FCS 4008, with suggestions for improvements incorporated in the new FCS series.
The vessel combines a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure, allowing the vessel to combine strength with speed.
Further, Damen Sea Axe vessels boast good seakeeping characteristics and are more comfortable for both crew and personnel.
Building on the range, the FCS 4008 is very fuel efficient, consuming at least 10 per cent less than conventional vessels.
Naviera Integral's two new vessels are due for delivery in 2016.
