Olympic Shipping has entered into a contract for the delivery of a single OSV at Myklebust Verft, a yard in the Kleven Maritime group in Norway, for delivery in September 2011 using an already completed hull.
The MT 6009 L design by Marin Teknikk has an overall length of 79.7 metres, a beam of 16.8 metres, deck space of 745 square metres, and a dead weight of 3,500 tonnes. The accommodation area has a capacity of 40 persons and the vessel will include facilities that will make it well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.
Kleven Maritime now has an orderbook of 11 vessels at a value of NOK4.5 billion (US$770 million). The order is welcome news for the yard's employees, who were expecting layoffs due to a period of expected inactivity.
