Keppel Singmarine, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore and Marine, has completed building a deepwater derrick lay vessel for Hydro Marine Services, a subsidiary of McDermott International.

The derrick lay vessel, named 'DLV 2000', will begin operations at the INPEX Ichthys LNG project offshore Western Australia once delivered.

The DLV 2000 is a class three dynamically positioned vessel combining a 2,200-tonne revolving crane with a deepwater pipelay system configured to install pipelines with diameters ranging from 11.5 to 152 centimetres in water depths up to 3,000 metres.

The vessel can accommodate up to 400 personnel to facilitate large hook-up and commissioning projects and incorporates a nearly 4,000-square-metre open deck to allow the transportation and assembly of large subsea structures.

The vessel has also been designed and constructed to accommodate a deepwater, 500-tonne flexlay system that can be installed at a future date.
