Malaysia: EPIC to build third phase of Kemaman Supply Base

Published on:

Malaysia's Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation (EPIC) has invested over US$28 million in the third phase of the Kemaman Supply Base (KSB) project.

EPIC, a company owned by the State Government of Terengganu in Malaysia, said the process of purchasing the 30 hectares of land for the project was over and that the company would call for tenders soon.

KSB began its operation in 1982 as an onshore support base dedicated solely to service and supply the offshore petroleum operations. It was specially designed and developed as a logistic supply base for Peninsular Malaysia's offshore petroleum exploration and production industries. KSB is an all weather port with a quay measuring 360 metres with a depth of eight metres. It is capable of receiving up to six supply vessels at any given time.

"We expect the third phase to open in a year's time to enable the supply base to support the petroleum industry with another 80 to 100 companies operating here," said EPIC CEO Ramli Shahul Hameed. He said the new phase will open in the middle of next year and will have special features in the warehouses.
