Kleven has signed a contract with diamond company De Beers Marine Namibia, part of the De Beers Group, for the construction of a highly specialised vessel for deepwater mineral exploration.
The first vessel of its kind, the vessel will be designed by Marin Teknikk and based on the naval architect's MT 6022 series.
According to Kleven, this design is well proven within the offshore construction segment, with the newbuilding for De Beers to include a wide range of tailor-made equipment and features.
The vessel will be built at Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway, and will be delivered in mid-2016.
