Malaysian state energy firm Petronas on Thursday said it had awarded a new production sharing contract to a subsidiary of Australia's Harvester Energy at the Estuary Cluster off Peninsular Malaysia.
A small field asset contract was awarded to Harvester Energy Malaysia at the Estuary Cluster, located within the Malay Basin, a proven hydrocarbon province comprising the Lerek, Korbu and Diwangsa fields.
"The cluster is expected to unlock stranded marginal oil resources through a technology-led development concept centred on a novel shallow-water subsea development approach," Petronas said in a statement.
Separately, enhanced 3D seismic data had been handed over to technical services provider Dialog Resources at the Mutiara Cluster off the east coast of Sabah, to support its development towards production and advance discovered resources in the Sandakan Basin, Petronas said.
The Mutiara Cluster comprises five discovered marginal oil and gas fields, namely Nymphe, Nymphe North, Kuda Terbang, Benrinnes and Mutiara Hitam.
The cluster is targeting first production by 2029, Petronas said.
