Export cable installation completed at South Korea's Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind project

Taihan Cable and Solution has completed the installation of export cables for the Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind project in South Korea.

Taihan said the project, located near Songido in Jeollanam-do province, is a large-scale initiative to develop a 364.8MW wind power complex. With a total project cost of KRW2.3 trillion (US$1.7 billion), the facility will generate enough electricity to power approximately 250,000 South Korean households year-round upon its completion.

The overall project progress has now surpassed 50 per cent, according to Taihan.

The export cable installation, covering two 28-kilometre lines, was carried out in two phases: the first phase took place over two weeks in mid-May, and the second phase began in late June and was completed last week.

The installation of inter-array cables, which were also produced by Taihan, is scheduled to commence after July.

Taihan executed the works using the cable laying vessel Palos, which the company introduced into service in 2023.
