DEME’s newest installation vessel launched in China


Orion, DEME's newest installation vessel, was launched in a formal ceremony at the COSCO Qidong Shipyard in China on Wednesday, November 21.

The vessel will be deployed for the construction of the largest offshore wind farms, for servicing the oil and gas industry, and for the decommissioning of offshore installations.

With a total installed capacity of 44,180 kW, Orion will be equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 5,000 tonnes up to a height of more than 170 metres.

The 216.5-metre vessel features DP3 capability. It is expected to join the DEME fleet at the end of 2019.
