Greece: Drybulk cargoes and off-shore services operator, DryShips, has announced that its fully-owned subsidiary, Ocean Rig, has extended a contract an American exploration company for one of its drillship newbuildings worth nearly US$30 million in extra revenue.
"We are pleased to secure an additional well in the previously-disclosed employment for one of our first two drillships that will be delivered from Samsung during the first quarter 2011," said George Economou, Chairman and CEO of DryShips .
"We continue to see strong interest for our state of the art sixth generation drillships operated by our experienced ultra-deepwater operator Ocean Rig."
DryShips currently owns a fleet of 39 drybulk carriers and six offshore oil deepwater drilling units.
