Azerbaijan resumes gas supplies to Bulgaria

The Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company (AGSC) has resumed natural gas supplies to Bulgaria which were interrupted nearly two weeks ago due to unplanned maintenance at the Shah Deniz Alfa gas platform, Bulgarian media reported on Monday.

Bulgarian state gas company Bulgargaz said that gas supplies were restored on Sunday, and that the disruption had not affected its customers because the company switched to alternative sources.

BP said on January 10 it had suspended the platform's work, on one of two of Azerbaijan's largest natural gas fields, after detecting a technical issue at the subsea gas condensate export line between the platform and the Sangachal terminal.

Bulgargaz also said the temporary suspension would not impact the natural gas price for February, proposed to increase 2.6 per cent from January, the Novinite.com news portal reported.
