DeepOcean UK, a subsidiary of DeepOcean Group, has announced the keel laying of its new cable lay vessel at a shipyard in Galati, Romania.

Following completion, the vessel, yet to be named, will be chartered long-term to Maersk Supply Service.

Tony Inglis, Managing Director of DeepOcean UK, said the new vessel will position the company in the larger cable-laying end of the market.

"This next-generation cable lay vessel will be well suited for installation and burial projects using its 7,000-tonne carousel from land-fall to deepwater and also in remote geographical locations," he said.
