Norway-based offshore engineering and construction company, Aker Solutions, has posted a 15 percent increase in its net profits to US$3.3 billion for the second quarter of 2009.
The company has also seen an increase in its order books by 20 percent.
"Though market activity is declining in the short term, the fundamentals for further market growth are likely to persist in the longer term," said Aker Solutions.
The Oslo-listed group received a new contract for a large oil project in the Caspian Sea in the second quarter of the year. Besides this, Aker Solutions also has contracts for a large offshore oil project in Kazakhstan and a contract to build an oil production platform for ExxonMobil in eastern Russia.
