Construction begins on MENA's largest floating crane at ZPMC, China
UAE Government owned Drydocks World has celebrated a keel-laying ceremony for the largest sheerleg floating crane in the MENA region with the Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company (ZPMC) in Qidong City, China.
"With a 160-metre-long A-frame and a 5,000-tonne lifting capacity, this floating crane will redefine offshore heavy-lifting capabilities, enabling lifts of up to 120 metres above water," said Drydocks World.
"When it arrives at Drydocks World in 2026, the crane will significantly enhance our ability to handle larger and more complex offshore structures, heavy modules, and vessel integrations.
"This advancement will strengthen our capacity to execute mega-projects in shipbuilding, conversions, and offshore energy, reinforcing Drydocks World's position as a global leader in maritime and offshore solutions."
Drydocks World's yard is spread over nearly one million square metres, with three graving docks, a floating dock, as well as more than 3,700 metres of berth space, making it the largest ship repair facility in the Middle East.
