The Yorke Peninsula Council of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula has secured significant funding through the Coast Protection Board's 2024-25 Coast Protection Grants program to support crucial coastal protection and improvement projects.

Among the projects to receive funding are the Port Vincent Marine Parade North foreshore design and the Foul Bay Mud Alley defence design.

"These grants will help us address key areas of erosion, protect our coastline, and enhance access to our natural environment," said Yorke Peninsula Mayor Darren Braund.

The Port Vincent Marine Parade North Foreshore Design will entail the design of a coastal defence structure to manage erosion along the northern end of Marine Parade. The total project cost is AU$49,820 (US$30,390), with the council contributing AU$19,820 (US$12,090).

The Foul Bay Mud Alley Defence Design project will entail the design of a defence structure to manage erosion and seawater inundation in the Mud Alley area. The total project cost is AU$105,000 (US$64,100), with the council contributing AU$42,000 (US$26,000).
