The US Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, has awarded a US$5.65 million contract to Orion Marine Construction for maintenance dredging of the Houston ship channel.
Orion Marine will use a pipeline dredge to remove more than 459,000 cubic metres of maintenance material from Exxon to Carpenters in Harris County, Texas.
The port ranks first in the US for foreign waterborne tonnage, first for imports and export tonnage and second for total tonnage.
