New contracts for Nevsky Shipyard

 

On December 29, 2016, contracts for the construction of a series of five dry cargo vessels of the RSD59 project were signed between the Nevsky Shipyard and Paula Rise.

The vessels are designed for the transportation of general and bulk cargo (including grains), packaged lumber, logs, scrap metal in bundles and rolls of large, lengthy and heavy cargo, coal, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 class in accordance with IC IMDG and Appendix B of the BC Code.

‘Federal Iris’ completes maiden voyage

The ‘Federal Iris’, a 200-metre long bulk carrier, has completed her maiden voyage to the United States, arriving at the Port of Vancouver, USA on August 30.

The ‘Iris’ is operated by Federal Navigation of Montreal and owned by Forward Gloria Navigation. The vessel, which has a deadweight capacity of 63,498 tonnes, was built by Imabari Shipbuilding and launched August 9.

Seaway Heavy Lifting to become part of Subsea 7

Subsea 7 has announced that one of its wholly owned subsidiaries has made an offer to acquire the 50 per cent shareholding in Seaway Heavy Lifting Holding currently owned by K&S Baltic Offshore (Cyprus). The terms of the offer are binding on Subsea 7 until July 1, 2017. During this period the works council representing the employees of Seaway Heavy Lifting in the Netherlands will be consulted in compliance with Dutch law.

Fednav welcomes new handysize ship

Canadian bulk shipowner Fednav has received delivery of a new handysize carrier, the ‘Federal Caribou’.

The vessel is one of seven new vessels equipped with a ballast water treatment system – a first for the Great Lakes, according to Fednav.
