The Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (ASRY) in Bahrain has entered into a technical service agreement with Wärtsilä.
With more and more shipowners taking delivery of modern tonnage, the maintenance requirements for many of ASRY's customers today is very much linked to propulsion and machinery services
In a Memorandum of Understanding recently signed by Wärtsilä and ASRY, the Finnish-headquartered marine propulsion company will offer the following work within the Bahrain shipyard from its own dedicated workshop facility, using its own highly trainer engineers.
Engine Services: on its own make diesels, including providing OEM spare parts, field service and technical support to perform optimiser packages such as engine upgrades, conversion, and safety and monitoring services
Automation Services: providing design and manufacture of engine control systems, switchboards, power units and control panels
Propulsion Services: spare parts sales for Lips propellers, field service on lips and other OEM equipment, metallurgical propeller repairs on lips and other OEM equipment, underwater propeller repairs on lips and other OEM equipment, and specialist services for bow thrusters.
