Selex Communications has been awarded a five-year US$3.3 million contract by North Star Shipping, to supply and install SeaTel 4006 VSAT and Iridium fixed satellite communications on 29 North Star vessels, with six of the newbuild vessels being fitted with additional SeaTel 4004 Satellite television.
The Seatel 4006 VSAT equipment will be maintained through a rental maintenance agreement for five years.
Selex Communications will also be providing airtime through its Italy-based sister company, Telespazio.
North Star operates a fleet of 25 emergency response and rescue vessels, three PSVs and one ROV survey vessel to support offshore operations worldwide.
