Italian publishing house PAN-PAN Edizioni launched a new iPad app 'Doctor on board', which is a practical tool to deal with accidents and illnesses at sea and to obtain remote medical assistance.

The manual provides a quick help to navigators during medical problems and emergencies, focusing in particular on what to do, what not to do, and the information to provide during an emergency call to Tele-Medical Assistance Service (TMAS) doctors, which offers free support to everybody at sea 24 hours a day.

'Doctor on board' also collects easy to read cards about the necessary measures necessary to stabilise or treat a casualty. The application is on a human scale because the content and graphics organisation of the cards have been developed using ergonomic methods that made the program interface easy to use and efficient in solving problems. The texts, supervised by medical specialists, are drawn for easy understanding by any user.
