At the start of the maritime events season in South East Asia there is finally some positive news amid the general doom, gloom and despair.

The Asian Shipping and Work Boat Exhibition, being held for the sixth time in Singapore from February 24 to 26 in Hall 401 at Suntec, will be as strong as ever.

"While we have seen a handful of 'Johnny-come-lately' companies fall over or disappear,  it is encouraging that all our regular, long-term exhibitors are returning in 2009", said organiser Kishore Navani.

"They are the backbone of the industry, the 'stayers'," Mr Navani explained. "They know that booms and busts come and go but the maritime industry sails on."

Asian Shipping and Work Boat 2009 will be officially opened by Brigadier General Tay Lim Heng, Chief Executive of Singapore's world renowned Maritime and Port Authority. The opening ceremony, which all maritime industry participants are welcome to attend, commences at 09.40hrs sharp on Tuesday, February 24. The exhibition remains open from 10.00 to 18.00hrs on Tuesday and Wednesday but closes at 17.00hrs on Thursday, February 26.
