GEAR | Hong Kong Maritime Week 2022 to cover maritime arbitration, Greater Bay Area development

This year’s Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW), which will be held on November 20-26, will include various physical, online, and/or hybrid activities for both local and international industry practitioners.

Since its commencement in 2016, HKMW has received support from a number of local maritime organisations, such as GS1 Hong Kong, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (Hong Kong Branch), Maritime Professional Promotion Federation, Modern Terminals, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Joint Branch of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects and The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology among others.

This year’s participants include the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), Capital Link, DNV, Economist Impact, Port of Hamburg Marketing, and Seatrade Maritime.

HKMW 2022 will feature eleven themes including building up of maritime talent pool and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Organised by Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (Hong Kong Branch), Steering Through Stormy Seas – Need for Strong Engine and a Clear Destination, is a panel discussion followed by cocktail reception. Panelists will share insights from their shipowning, ship management, legal and academic backgrounds. Industry players and tertiary students are welcome to join the discussion, set for November 25.

Organised by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong) (SCIA HK), the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Summit on November 24 will bring together professionals in the maritime legal sector to discuss the development, frontier issues, and arbitration practices of Shenzhen-Hong Kong maritime arbitration.

Other activities include the 4th Annual Capital Link Maritime Forum, which will be held on November 21 and will focus on ship finance, dispute resolution discussions and updates to be held on November 21, 22, and 25, a ship management discussion on November 24, and seminars and short training courses on marine insurance on November 24 and 26.
