BMT Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of design, engineering and risk management consultancy BMT Group, has been appointed to implement The Strategic Development Plan for Hong Kong Port 2030 (HKP2030), commissioned by the Hong Kong Transport and Housing Bureau.
The study is a key element in guiding port development policy and planning investment for future port facilities and related infrastructure. BMT Asia Pacific will formulate a sustainable development strategy for HKP, taking into account forecasts of market demand and productivity and capacity of port facilities looking up to 30 years ahead, and the competitiveness of the HKP in the regional context. The study will be underpinned by extensive consultation with all the key industry stakeholders, such as terminal operators, midstream operators, shipping lines, river-trade operators, truck operators, shippers and consignees.
The final report will be delivered in July 2012.
