Engine and generators manufacturer Westerbeke has announced that its new Model 35E Three diesel propulsion engine is now in production. The cleaner burning, Tier 3 engine produces 20.87kW at a low 3,000rpm and replaces the Westerbeke's 35C engine.

The 35E Three features fresh water cooling, a 12 volt, 50 amp alternator, as well as low oil pressure and high water temperature alarms. The 35E Three has a standard front-mounted raw water pump and also incorporates a positive flow, hot water heater connection in the thermostat bypass circuit, also located on the front of the engine for easier access.

The 35E Three has a self-bleeding fuel system. It also offers optional 72 or 100 amp DC battery charging alternator with or without an optional compressor mount. It measures 77.66 centimetres long by 54.16 centimetres wide and stands at 57.35 centimetres high, weighing 175.1 kilograms.
