The first units of the new Castoldi Turbodrive 340 waterjet unit have been delivered to customers.

The waterjet propulsion system is designed for patrol vessels, interceptors and SAR boats in the range of 12-17 metres matched with engines up to 634kW.

The integrated gearbox has a multi-disc hydraulic clutch, and it has been designed with a flat water duct profile for reduced distortion and efficiency at speeds above 25 knots.

The micro-casted axial-flow, three-blade impeller is optimised against cavitation without any engine's rpm constraints.

A movable debris screen grid with hydro-dynamically profiled bars protects the water intake and cleaning operations with alternating movement.

The Castoldi test boat, equipped with one Turbodrive 340 unit matched to a 694kW engine has reached speeds of 55knots at four tonnes displacement.
