Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) has selected Scania to provide the main engines for its four new 15-metre oil spill response landing craft.

The vessels, currently in production by the William E. Munson Company, will be powered by twin keel-cooled 559kW Scania DI13 088M engines with Twin Disc 5095 marine gearboxes. Propulsion will be provided by Hamilton 403 waterjets.

The propulsion arrangement offers a top speed of 35 knots at full power.

The first boat was delivered to WCMRC in June while the three remaining craft are in various stages of construction.
