Schottel is expanding its rudder propeller factory in Dörth by adding a logistics centre with a total area of approximately 4,000 square metres.

The construction work being undertaken by local general contractor Goldbeck has a total investment volume of around €9.5 million (US$10.32 million).

Columns and the first exterior walls will provide around 2,634 square metres of industrial floor space. In the future, logistics will be upgraded and made more efficient with the installation of an incoming goods processing system, crane systems, and a fully automated warehouse.

The foundations for the adjoining office wing with 1,326 square metres of usable space are currently being laid and construction of the three-storey building is due to start in the spring.

Regular operations are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2025 once the building has been accepted and operational facilities have been installed. This will merge the currently double warehouse logistics of goods for the production of new thrusters in Dörth with those of the spare parts business from Spay some 30 kilometres away.

The new building will be fitted with a roof designed to hold an array of photovoltaic panels.
